“Let’s also make sure working parents can afford to raise a family with sick days, paid family and medical leave, and affordable child care that will enable millions more people to go to work,” President Biden said.
Harrisburg, PA – Family Friendly Pennsylvania released the following statement following President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address, applauding the president’s commitment to an agenda to uplift working families and seniors and the possibilities that lie ahead for continuing on this progress.
Rachele Fortier, Family Friendly Pennsylvania State Director:
“Last night, during his State of the Union address, President Joe Biden made clear that he is committed to an agenda to uplift working families and seniors, as evidenced by his progress on lowering costs and making care more affordable.
“Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, economic relief has already been felt by seniors on Medicare who use insulin as one of the bill’s provisions, a $35 cap on insulin copays, went into effect at the start of the New Year.
“Tonight, we were reaffirmed to hear – and see from the guests in attendance – how President Biden and Democrats like Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan are delivering results for working families and seniors.
“As President Biden said, we need to continue our progress and finish the job so no one is left behind. Family Friendly Pennsylvania calls on Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation to continue to follow President Biden’s lead in advocating for working families and seniors on issues like paid family and medical leave, affordable child care, the child tax credit, home and community based services, and to further expand the affordability of prescription drugs.”
